Hi all,
firstly, no jaws bashing. I don't care why you use or don't use jaws, just as I don't care why mac/NVDA/IOS/your grandma's cornbread is better for activity X Y or Z. However, for jaws users, has anyone noticed that their activations are suddenly being revoked, with no hardware changes whatsoever? This has happened to myself, and at least 3 other users I know of?
If this has been happening, can I encourage you all to bug the shit out of FS about it. They are proving intractable, telling us to just use our keys...well, sorry, but that's not good enough. Keep sending emails, guys.
MJ
That used to happen to me; I lost my JAWS key when I restarted my computer. I hadn't even installed or uninstalled anything. That is why I switched to using my grandmother's corn bread for my screenreader full time, and trust me, it works!
I've never had that happen, but when i restart jaws , sometimes it goes into demmo mode. if i shut it down and reboot a second time it'll work fine.
I had that issue last year with an old computer, but the computer had been acting weird in other ways and eventually died. I have not had that problem with my new computer and current version of JAWS SO far.
There's been other times when i go to restart jaws and it doesn't open , so i've had to reboot the puter, but that doesnt' happen often. This is with jaws14 for both this and what i said above.
If your system is older your drive is not working as best it can, so maybe replace it.
If you are using Windows 7, and you use a machine that hasn't been updated Jaws will lose even if you change the keyboard, or have a loose connection. The locking code changes because the system thinks it is different.
You don't say what kind of system you are using, but I suspect if FS is willing to continue to grant you keys, your problem has been solved as related to that computer.
The battery could need changing and a host of other issues.
